Edsa Shrine
The Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of EDSA,which is also know as the EDSA Shrine is located at the intersection of Ortigas Avenue and Epifanio Delos Santos Ave. Edsa shrine, was built last 1989 to remember the memories of PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION. Its peaceful and successful resolution, stands on the site of two peaceful demonstrations that toppled Philippine presidents Ferdinand Marcos (the People Power Revolution or EDSA I) and Joseph Estrada (EDSA II). It is officially called the "Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace" or "Our Lady of Peace Quasi-Parish", but these names are not usually used.
Rev. Fr. Leo Nilo Manggusad is the present rector of Edsa Shrine.He is next to the previous pastors: Most Rev. Socrates Villegas (1989 to 2004) and Rev. Fr. Victor Apacible (2004 to 2008). Fr. Nilo is assisted by his vice-rector, Rev. Fr. Carlos Reyes.

The Marcos government was being violently disturbed by the popular protests from the anomalies election between the Philippine President at that time ( Ferdinand Marcos ) and the strongest presidential competitor Corazon Aquino. When President Marcos refused to confess to the anomaly votes for Aquino, people ended up in the corner of Ortigas and EDSA, which is the EDSA Shrine.
In 1986, the people of EDSA revolt in the time of President Joseph Estrada, and the people of EDSA also revolt in the time of President Gloria M. Arroyo, but which run out in the end. In the time pass by in the Philippine history, these revolts at the EDSA Shrine had been relatively peaceful, with minor unwanted happenings.
The statue of Mary, a patron saint of Roman Catholicism, stands there at the corner of Ortigas and EDSA to remeber the events, and also to serve as a safe place for people of EDSA revolts in the future. They built a chapel or shrine under the statue of Mary where, regular mass is being held. EDSA Shrine in the is just beside the Robinsons Galleria Shopping Center at the Ortigas Complex.
